FOX Sports Week 8 All-Stars highlight big days in very different wins

Week 8 produced a rare quarterback comparison, a huge Tampa Bay rushing day and multiple skill-position performances that shaped the all-star discussion.

Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence featured in a Week 8 NFL all-star quarterback debate

The FOX Sports Week 8 All-Stars discussion centered on a quarterback choice shaped by two very different winning formulas on Sunday. Joe Burrow delivered a historic high-volume performance for the Cincinnati Bengals, while Trevor Lawrence powered the Jacksonville Jaguars with striking efficiency.

Beyond the quarterback debate, Week 8 also featured a dominant Tampa Bay Buccaneers rushing effort, a productive overtime showing by Tyler Allgeier and a Bengals receiver battle led by Tee Higgins’ target-to-production edge.

Burrow’s historic workload meets Lawrence’s clean efficiency

Burrow’s case was built on volume and history. The Bengals star threw for 462 yards and five touchdowns, rushed for another score and became the only player besides Norm Van Brocklin to throw five touchdowns, rush for another and pass for more than 450 yards in an NFL game.

That performance also came with risk. Burrow threw three interceptions and had to put the ball up 48 times as Cincinnati needed overtime to beat the Tennessee Titans, who are now 1-7.

Lawrence was not asked to carry the same kind of workload for Jacksonville against the Indianapolis Colts. He threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 passes as the Jaguars cruised to a win.

That contrast defined the quarterback conversation: Burrow produced the bigger box-score explosion, but Lawrence’s day stood out because of how much Jacksonville gained from so few pass attempts.

Tampa Bay wins without a completed pass

The Buccaneers created one of the week’s clearest identity games on the ground. Tampa Bay won easily against the Atlanta Falcons despite not completing a pass, leaning on a 56-carry, 324-yard rushing performance.

Bucky Irving led the way in that run-heavy win. He reset his career high twice in recent weeks and finished Sunday with 170 yards and a touchdown.

The Buccaneers’ rushing total stood out even in a week loaded with production on the ground. Five other players rushed for more than 100 yards and at least one touchdown, making the running back conversation especially crowded.

Allgeier adds another overtime standout

Tyler Allgeier also forced his way into the Week 8 discussion with a versatile performance in the Arizona Cardinals’ overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys. He ran for 147 yards and a touchdown, then added 44 receiving yards and another score.

Allgeier’s two-way production gave Week 8 another major rushing headline alongside Irving and the Buccaneers’ team-wide ground dominance.

Higgins earns the edge in a crowded Bengals passing day

Cincinnati’s passing volume created big numbers beyond Burrow. Tee Higgins got the nod over teammate Ja’Marr Chase after finishing with two touchdowns and 155 yards on 10 catches.

Higgins did that on 11 targets, five fewer than Chase. In a game where the Bengals needed overtime and Burrow attempted 48 passes, that efficiency helped separate Higgins in the receiver conversation.

Michael Wilson also appeared among the notable Week 8 names after catching the game-tying touchdown.

What Week 8 showed

The Week 8 all-star picture was less about one kind of dominance than several. Burrow supplied the historic stat line, Lawrence delivered the low-volume passing showcase, Irving fronted a rare run-first win, and Higgins turned limited targets into one of the week’s most productive receiving lines.
